You will be met at the airport by your tour leader, driven to
Bhaktapur, located about 14 kilometres southeast of Kathmandu, and check into the hotel. On your first day in your new place, we recommend a rest to recover from the long flight. Free time can be used for a leisurely walk around the historical centre of the city and acquaintance with its bright colours and unusual architecture.
Bhaktapur has a huge number of palaces and temples on a small territory, included
in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The government of Nepal carefully preserves the monuments of antiquity, and to this end, traffic in the historic city centre is restricted.
Visit
the National Art Gallery, where you can see Hindu and Buddhist masterpieces from different historical periods, and
Potters' Square - pottery is the most widespread craft in Bhaktapur. The city in general has long been famous for its craftsmen, and not only potters. It is not by chance that Bhaktapur is called "
the city of craftsmen". It is easy to be convinced of this walking around the city and looking at the indescribable beauty of wooden carved doors and windows of old houses....
Today, try not to rush anywhere, but synchronise your inner state with the pulse of the new world around you, with the colours and sounds of the ancient city. Feel yourself not as a tourist, but as a child joyfully discovering the world. Smile back to the broad and hospitable smile of passers-by, try to learn and say a few polite words in Nepali. Try some local yoghurt juju dhau and some local Newari cuisine like yomari.
Enjoy every minute in this fabulous city, but don't forget to go to bed early, no matter how hard it could be due to the time difference: you'll need your energy for the next day and new impressions.
